Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

There have been few video games that have been this fascinating and exciting as Nintendo's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Being released in 1998 it has set new standards to the 3D technology these days and has become one of the most bought video games ever.
Lately Nintendo has announced that they will release a remake of this classic for the Nintendo 3DS. Players who know the original game from the Nintendo64 will remember the old world of Hyrule, but will also notice many neat changes. The creators have reinvented the kingdom of Hyrule again, but did not change it completely. They just gave it a little makeover to grant it a new shiny look. Those who remember OoT from the Nintendon64 will also remember many empty places and the dead wasteland outside of Hyrule. The developers have added many little features to the nature and also added some social activity inside the houses, which makes the game way more interesting.
But not only the design of the game has changed, of course the game control had to change to due to the fact that it is not played with an N64 controller anymore. The touch pad of the Nintendo 3DS serves as a permanent inventory screen, which makes permanent switches to a seperate inventory, to select items, unneccessary.

What do you think about this remake of the Nintendo64 classic? Do you think it is a poor try to make money out of a relaunch of a classic game or would you actually buy it? If yes, have you played OoT on the N64?
Just let me hear what you think about it. I personally look forward to this game. Not only because I absolutely adore the Zelda series, but I'd also like to see the new changes and the bonus storyline.

  3. OoT was my favorite game as a kid, and its in my top ten as an adult. I sure hope they don't screw this up because this game deserves one hell of a remake. Perhaps it wont be able to live up to expectations, but I'll have my fingers crossed.

  5. Some companies really overdo remakes, but Nintendo don't fail often. They are really good. I guess this new OoT will be awesome.

  14. Sadly I never really got into Zelda, probably because I spent all time trying to beat SMB3 (still haven't lol) but after watching my room mate play it for the n64 the other day and reading this, it might just be my time to start

  15. I loved it to death on n64. I can't wait to try it out on 3ds. I read somewhere that the original OoT was never entirely finished anyway, they just released it near-complete because of deadlines. I always wanted a remake to be released even if it is only on the 3ds :)
